Book Club – Thriving Solo: Improving Our Mental Well-being

In this Book Club meet-up we are focusing on books, podcasts, blogs etc. that help the solopreneur with the often unique challenges of isolation, worklife-balance and decision-fatigue. Come along and share resources you have used to help overcome any of these issues and how we can be kinder to ourselves. AIIP member and author of the "The Kind Librarian" Helen Rimmer will be joining your usual hosts Kelly Berry and Denise Carter for what we are sure will be a lively discussion. To get you started here are some other books and podcasts that may be of interest - but please feel free to share your own examples:

Books:
1. "Company of One" by Paul Jarvis - Specifically addresses the mindset needed for sustainable solo business growth
2. "Digital Minimalism" by Cal Newport - Helps manage digital overwhelm and create healthier work boundaries
3. "Rest" by Alex Soojung-Kim Pang - Explores how rest and recovery are crucial for creativity and productivity
4. "Atomic Habits" by James Clear - Useful for building sustainable routines when you're self-directing
5. "The Practice" by Seth Godin - Helps develop a healthier relationship with creative work and uncertainty
Podcasts:
1. "Hurry Slowly" - Focuses on pacing yourself and avoiding burnout
2. "Ten Percent Happier" - Practical mindfulness for busy professionals
3. "The Psychology of Entrepreneurship" - Addresses specific mental challenges entrepreneurs face
4. "Solopreneur Hour" - Includes regular discussions about mental health and work-life balance
5. "Being Boss" - Often covers emotional wellbeing for independent business owners

Don't miss out on this unique networking opportunity that fosters meaningful connections and expands your horizons!

The event will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024 – 12-1pm EST. Register for this webinar at the members-only Virtual Events page.
