The Association of Independent Information Professionals (AIIP) is an international association of small business owners. AIIP is committed to helping members start, grow, and sustain their businesses in a collegial, welcoming, and safe atmosphere. The association has a proud history of providing an annual conference and other events where all participants are free to share their ideas, thoughts, and expression. The growing trend in corporations, associations, and other organizations to present a code of conduct has motivated AIIP to develop its own. This new code effectively defines expected behaviors that are normal and typical at AIIP conferences and events. In the current environment, a clearly worded code of conduct will be necessary for AIIP to continue to attract relevant speakers to our events, as well to demonstrate to prospective corporate sponsors that our values are aligned with theirs. The following code of conduct defines expectations for the future and does not reflect any past concerns. |
AIIP is dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, or political beliefs. Speakers are asked to frame discussions as openly and inclusively as possible. AIIP does not tolerate harassment of speakers, conference participants, or staff in any form during conference sessions, in the exhibit area, or at any other officially sanctioned conference events. All communications and interactions should be appropriate for a professional audience. Comments or images that are defamatory, slanderous, libelous, discriminatory, obscene or constitute sexual harassment are prohibited. Conference attendees are also prohibited from verbally abusing or physically accosting the conference staff, speakers, or other delegates. Conference participants violating these guidelines are expected to comply immediately and may be sanctioned or expelled from the conference without a refund or liability at the discretion of the conference organizers. If you are being harassed, witness someone else being harassed, or have any other concerns please contact the conference organizers or a member of the AIIP Board immediately.
