An individual may join the Association of Independent Information Professionals (AIIP) as a Full, Associate, Student, or Supporting Member. Eligible individuals may renew as Retired or Emeritus Members. Eligibility for specific levels is indicated below.
An organization may join as a Supporting Member.
Full Membership - $200
Associate Membership - $200
Student Membership - $50
Retired Membership - $75
Emeritus Membership - $50
Supporting Membership - $500
All Association Members must support the objectives of AIIP and accept the Association's Code of Ethical Business Practice.
FULL MEMBERSHIP is available to an individual who is the owner of a business that provides information services.
An individual who applies for Full membership must provide evidence that he or she owns at least 25% of a for-profit information services business. A Full Member receives CONNECTIONS, the official newsletter of the Association; may serve on committees and hold elective or appointed office; is entitled to one vote in all Association matters; has access to AIIP's electronic forum; may participate in discounts from our Industry Partners and Affiliates; and may use the official logo of the Association on business literature.
Annual dues for Full Membership: $200.00
Those applying for Full Membership must provide to the AIIP Office one of the following forms of evidence of business ownership. Acceptable documents include:
• Copy of business license or permit that shows ownership
• Corporate charter
• Federal Employer Identification application
• VAT application
• State sales tax permit or application
• Copy of the articles of incorporation
• Copy of the partnership agreement
• Copy of assumed name (DBA) certificate
• Brochure listing you as an owner
• Business card listing you as an owner
• Print of Internet home page listing you as an owner
ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP is available to any individual who supports the objectives of the Association and accepts its Code of Ethical Business Practice. An Associate Member receives CONNECTIONS, the official newsletter of the Association; may serve on committees; has access to AIIP's electronic forum; may participate in Vendor Programs as specified by the vendor; and may advertise that he or she is an Associate Member of AIIP.
Annual dues for Associate Membership: $200.00
STUDENT MEMBERSHIP is available to an individual who supports the objectives of AIIP and is currently enrolled, with a minimum of six credits, in an accredited degree-granting college or university. A Student Member receives CONNECTIONS, the official newsletter of the Association; may serve on committees; has access to AIIP's electronic forum; may participate in Vendor Programs when specified by the vendor; and may advertise that he or she is a Student Member of AIIP. Student membership may be held only once for a period of no more than two years, and student members must provide proof of enrollment upon joining and upon renewal.
Annual dues for Student Membership: $50.00
RETIRED MEMBERSHIP is available to an individual who was previously the owner of a business which provided information services and who has withdrawn from said business and was a Full member of AIIP for at least 3 years (need not be consecutive), and supports the objectives of AIIP and accepts its Code of Ethical Business Practice.
Annual dues for Retired Membership: $75.00
EMERITUS MEMBERSHIP is available to an individual who has retired from business ownership and has been an AIIP member for 8 years or more, the most recent 5 being consecutive and at the Full membership level.
Annual dues for Emeritus Membership: $50
SUPPORTING MEMBERSHIP is available to an individual, organization, or corporation that supports the objectives of AIIP and desires to provide financial support to the Association. A supporting member organization may designate one representative to serve as contact member. Supporting Members receive the benefits of Full Membership (if eligible) or Associate Membership.
