Presenter: Peggy Garvin, Garvin Information Consulting
Like the rest of the content world, government information is being transformed by social media, Web 2.0 concepts, and an audience that is more engaged and more tech-savvy than ever before. Federal agencies actively use Facebook, Twitter, blogging, mobile technologies, and open dialog software to make information available on a broader range of platforms than just their home pages. Local and national governments around the world now offer free access to downloadable databases that used to cost thousands of dollars or were only available in-house, spurring a boom in the re-use and repackaging of government information by non-traditional players. Learn to navigate the new landscape and come ready to share your own new approaches to finding and using government information.
